Ulysses Merari – The Meaning

The boy’s name Ulysses is of Latin origin. Variant of the Greek name Odysseus, which may mean “wrathful”. Mythology: Ulysses was the clever and resourceful hero of Homer’s “Odyssey”. 

 

Merari  

Merari is a son of Levi and brother of Kohath and Gershon. His familiy are called the Merarites. The duties of the Merarites were to take care of the framework of the tabernacle: pillars and sockets of the tent as well as the surrounding court (Num 3:36-37).

In Hebrew, it looks like it has to do with the verb  (marar 1248) meaning be bitter, strengthen, strong. The name Merari in Hebrew means My Bitterness.
